Garden Shed Organization for a Successful Season

As the weather is warming up, many homeowners are turning their focus to outdoor and landscaping projects. It’s the perfect time of year to clean up the yard and work on the projects that have been sitting on the backburner of your to-do list.
The reality is that spring is the best time of year to get ahead of any messes that have accumulated. Not only do you want to clear out the garden space to get ready for planting, but you also need to trim back the trees and make any other necessary adjustments that will help you enjoy the yard more throughout the year.
In order to achieve the best success with your outdoor projects, start with shed organization so that you can find all of the tools and supplies that are needed. Follow these tips to organize your shed and create a functional storage space for all of your supplies:
Step 1: Decluttering and Inventory Assessment
You want to start with a clean slate and also evaluate all of the things that you are storing in the shed. So, the first step is to take everything out so that you can get an eye on all of your supplies and tools. Plan this organization activity on a day when the weather is nice so that you can pull everything out of the shed and leave it in the yard or on the patio temporarily.
If you find anything that is broken or no longer needed, then either throw it out or put it in a donation pile. There is no reason to be hanging onto things that you aren’t going to use again in the future.
Next, take stock of everything that you currently have: fertilizers, seeds, and garden treatments. If you can see that anything is running low, then it’s a great opportunity to restock these essentials so that you don’t run out at an inconvenient time.
Step 2: Design and Integrate Your Storage System
Now the exciting part begins! Use wall-mounted systems where you can hang tools and other items. For example, racks and pegboards can be very useful for storage so that you can see everything hanging on the wall. Smaller items can be placed in marked bins: gloves, plant markers, screws and nails, etc.
If you have various sized pots and trays, then stack them neatly and find a corner where they can be collected so that you can avoid tripping hazards in the middle of the floor.
Also, use a magnetic strip where you can keep your favorite tools within reach. This strip can hold items such as screwdrivers, pruning shears, and more.
When you are organizing and cleaning the shed, it is also a great opportunity where you can check the quality of your tools. If any maintenance is required, then this is a good time to take care of those tasks.
