Convenient Backyard Shed Kits

Should I buy A shed Kit?
At Montana Shed Center, we thought it would be a great idea to offer shed kits for customers looking to save money while still owning a shed. We created a Shed-in-a-Box, complete with materials, hardware, and a set of assembly instructions. Paint is not included. A shed kit is a great way to save money, but there are a few things to consider when deciding whether to purchase a shed or a kit. We will go over that in the next few sections.
Cost Comparison
Price is definitely the biggest reason someone might choose a kit over buying a fully assembled building. Here’s an example:
- An 8×10 A-Frame Utility, built and delivered to your property, costs about $3,759.
- An 8×10 shed kit (delivery not included) costs about $2,600.
That’s over $1,000 in savings! That being said, there are a few more things to consider.
Time Investment
Another thing to consider is the amount of time it may take to assemble your own shed. Our shed kits save you time when it comes to figuring out how much materials to buy and how to assemble the building. That being said, how long it would take to build the kit really depends on the amount of construction experience the customer has and how much extra time you have. The advantage of purchasing a fully assembled building from us is that your only task is to tell us what you want—after that, we take care of the rest!
Skill Level Required
I mentioned skill level in the previous section, but it is a very important factor when deciding whether to purchase a shed kit or build your own shed. We recommend some construction experience when purchasing our shed kit because it is not designed to be assembled by someone who has no experience with construction. If you want to try your hand at assembling a shed kit we leave that decision up to you.
Tools & Equipment
Here is a list of recommended tools for assembling our shed kit:
- Framing Nailer
- Siding Nailer
- Wide Crown Stapler
- Roofing Stapler
- Chalk Line
- Hammer Tacker
- Router with a Plunge Bit
- Circular Saw (commonly known as a Skil Saw)
- Cat’s Paw (Nail Puller)
Here are some tools you will definitely need:
- Hammer
- Tape Measure
- Impact or drill
- Sawzall
- Tin Snips
Resale Value
The resale value of a self-built shed vs a shed built in our production facility can vary dramatically, depending on the quality of the self-built shed. We have over 10 years of experience in building sheds and have gotten quality nailed down. Each of our sheds goes through a quality inspection before they ever get onto a trailer for delivery. This ensures that your shed retains value for years to come. If you build your own shed there is no guarantee that the building will hold its value over time.
Warranty & Support
One of the best reasons to have us build your shed is that we have a great 10-year warranty If you assemble one of our shed kits there is no warranty included. We also do not offer support for our shed kits. When you purchase it, we trust you know how to build and follow construction plans.
